The five-lesson course
Upgrade your skillset so you can confidently walk into a club, bar or house party and rock a set without anyone working out it's your first time.
Whether you're a complete beginner or intermediate, I've got the latest Pioneer gear for rekordbox, Rane gear for Serato or turntables for vinyl.
How to navigate the CDJs, mixer, faders and controls. Learn the purpose behind each dial, effect and button.
By ear first. Counting bars, hearing the phrase, finding the one. The skill everything else sits on.
EQ, filters and gain staging. Making two tracks sound like one, instead of two tracks fighting.
Building a set that goes somewhere. Key mixing, energy over an hour, and how to buy music instead of ripping rubbish.
Reading a room. When to lift it, when to hold it and how to save a floor that's walking out. Then you play a full set start to finish. I record it, go through it track by track and send it to you.

Hey, I'm Christian
I started DJing in 2008 in Airlie Beach, QLD, with about 6 hours of practice on a pair of CDJ 1000s. My first sets were riddled with mistakes, so I learnt fast. Trial by fire!
Three thousand events later I've played festivals, clubs, weddings and corporate gigs. As Colour Castle I've had multiple ARIA Club Chart #1s, releases on Hot Sunday Records and tracks on Ministry of Sound compilations.
I've been teaching for seven years. It's all one-on-one because everyone gets stuck on something different.

Before you book
I've never touched a pair of decks. Is that a problem?
Not at all, that's most people who walk in! You'll be mixing two tracks together by the end of your first lesson.
Do I need my own gear?
Nope. I've got the same club-standard CDJs and mixer you'll find in most booths. Bring your headphones if you've got a pair you like, otherwise borrow mine.
What kind of music can I learn on?
Whatever you actually listen to. House, techno, hip-hop, disco, drum & bass. The skills are the same and I build the lessons around your music.
How long until I can play a real gig?
Most people are ready for a house party or a warm-up slot somewhere between five and ten lessons. It comes down to how much you practise in between. That's why studio time is cheap.
How do the gift vouchers work?
Buy one for the five-lesson course, a single lesson, or any amount you like. Personalise the card and pay. We email the voucher to you straight away, so you can forward it on the day or print it and pop it in a card. They book in whenever suits - vouchers are valid for 3 years.
Can kids learn?
Yep, there's no age limit, and I hold a Working With Children Check. Vouchers work for any age too. More on lessons for kids and teens.

Can I do lessons online?
Yep! I teach online too, so you can learn from anywhere. Same prices as in person, over a video call on your own controller or decks. Get in touch and we'll set it up.
