Privacy policy
What we collect, why we need it, who handles it for us, and how to have it changed or deleted. Last updated 4 October 2026.
Who we are
Burn City DJ School is a one-on-one DJ school in Melbourne, run by Christian Pillot. For anything in this policy, email hello@burncitydjschool.com or call 0431 687 955.
What we collect
- Booking a lesson. When you call, text or email us, we keep your name, number or email and the lesson details so we can lock in a time.
- Paying online (gift vouchers and the half-price first lesson). Stripe collects your email, phone number and card. Your card details never reach our site.
- Gift vouchers. The names, occasion and message you put on the voucher, so we can make it and email it to you.
- The half-price first lesson. The email you enter, which we check against past Stripe purchases so the offer stays one per person.
- The members library. The email you sign up with, and your name if you add one. Your email is your login: we send you a fresh code each time, so there is no password to store.
- Visiting the site. Our host keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.
What we use it for
To book and run your lessons, make and send gift vouchers, apply the first-lesson offer, give you access to the library, answer your questions and keep the site secure.
If you join the members library, we may email you when new downloads land. Every one of those emails will have an unsubscribe link. We don't send other marketing emails.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your details or share them for advertising.
- We don't use analytics trackers or advertising pixels on this site.
Who handles it for us
A few services run parts of the school. Each one only gets what it needs to do its job:
- Stripe - payments, gift vouchers and the first-lesson offer
- Resend - sends the gift voucher emails
- Clerk - members library accounts and login codes
- Vercel - hosts this website
- Google Fonts and Fontshare - serve the fonts on this site, so they see your IP address when a page loads
- Spotify - the music player on the site loads from Spotify, which applies its own privacy policy
Some of these providers store data outside Australia, mainly in the United States.
Cookies
The main site sets no cookies of its own. The members library uses cookies to keep you signed in and to remember light or dark mode. Stripe's checkout and the Spotify player set their own cookies.
How long we keep it
Payment and voucher records are kept for as long as Australian tax law requires, currently five years. Library accounts stay until you ask us to delete them. Booking messages stay in our phone and inbox until we clear them.
Your choices
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@burncitydjschool.com. We'll get back to you within 30 days.
If you're not happy with how we've handled it, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
